Three of the Most Photogenic Destinations to Visit for a Natural Shoot

Thanks to the diversity of nature across the globe, photographers rarely struggle to find new destinations to capture on film. Even so, there are some which offer unique natural wonders for photographers of all levels. Combine your next getaway with a photography trip to make the most of these photogenic destinations.

Iceland

Known for its unique landscape of volcanoes and black beaches, Iceland is a must-see stop for any photographer. Despite its popularity in the winter months, the red hills and waterfalls in summer make for a surreal shoot that others might not have taken the time to see.

Start your trip here at the famous Diamond Beach, which has a monochromatic setting of silvery glaciers and soot-black sand framed by the slate-grey sea. This is a great place to play around with your color settings, both on a digital camera and on film. During the winter months, capture the night-time wonders of the Northern Lights using high-tech lime-lapse technology. From this footage, you can choose some shots to turn into a series. In summer, head to the Skogafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls to shoot at Golden Hour. Use a handy map to visit waterfalls that are off the beaten path.

Hawaii, United States

Located in the heart of the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii boasts a landscape that is different from anywhere else in the world. Used as the filming location for Jurassic Park, it’s clear that it offers plenty of photography opportunities. Make transporting your photography gear easier by making use of E-Z Rent A Car from the moment you touch down.

Then, you will find it easier to visit the beaches of Maui, which have unrivaled sunsets ready to be captured, the rainforests of Kauai, or the iconic cliffs of the Na Pali Coast. A more unique shoot can be had in Hawaii’s Volcanoes National Park at night-time, where orange flames and molten lava add a surreal touch to images. Put your underwater equipment to the test when snorkeling the blue shores of Kamakohonu Beach.

Bali, Indonesia

This Southeast Asian island has been attracting the attention of travelers and budding photographers alike in recent years. Offering an exquisite blend of rainforests, volcanoes, and beaches, Bali is known for its increasingly bohemian feel and luxury hotels. Despite its rising popularity, there are still plenty of natural locations on the island which remain relatively untouched.

To get a good chance of seeing nature at its best, you should go on a natural retreat at prime times in the year. Hotspots like West Bali National Park offer views of crystal blue seas, island deer, and other exotic animals. For the best sunset photography, head to the beach town of Jimbaran, and for sunrise shots across the rice paddies, and then head out on a sunrise trek up Mount Batur. No matter where you go, you will almost always see the skies turn pink after experiencing afternoon rainfall in the low season. This phenomenon makes for an incredible shoot opportunity.
