These are Portraits of Chinese Rockstars Turned into Monumental Temples. DU Kun is a painter based in Beijing, music fan and musician himself realizes unusual portraits of Chinese rock stars. He represents rockstars as ancient architectural monuments. In his series entitled revels of the Rock Gods, he imagines such monumental temples Whose traditional architecture is borrowed from Buddhist and Confucian architectures. Each oil painting depicts the face of a musician as if it were a temple built in devotion to a god and borrows elements from Buddhist and Confucian architecture. Eyes are depicted as windows, tree branches or waterfalls as flowing hair, and the surface of the skin as wood facades ornate gilded with gold.
