As is well known, many famous and talented artists were born in Russia. However, few know about Russian illustrators. It seems this art form has been forgotten. This is precisely why RBTH is launching a new project about Russian illustrators. Viktor Miller-Gausa started creating these cool caricatures of celebrities after being challenged by one of his friends.
“Once, my friend Eugene told me that I could not draw a caricature. I said I’ll do it.” He then decided to spend 31 days drawing portraits of his friends and favorite celebrities.
It is a small project. Several portraits of people who clearly and professionally engaged in the business. There are those who you know, there are those with whom you are unfamiliar. All the portraits I did in their spare time. Viktor consider inspiration as a very strange process. It’s a spontaneous process and I don’t concentrate on trying to find it. I draw independent of my mood. I’ve never notices in myself a desire to go out and see something to then sit down and start working in some inspired state.
